HALF DAY TOURS
Our Most Popular Half Day Tour begins in New River at the Road Runner Restaurant & Saloon. This is not your Western Wannabe kind of place. Real bikers and cowboys peacefully co-exist ;-) and offer you a real window into our culture. The burgers and chops are great and you'll want to spend some time there before or after our tour. 60% of the roads are maintained. We'll take you to some of the following attractions:
Stage Coach Road to Gillette – This 3 hour tour leaves from Rock Springs and is geared toward our more adventurous guests. Strength and savvy will be required to crawl over some of the natural rock formations that make this trail highly technical - there are a few times where your guide will be walking backwards in front of your car; to show you the exact way to tackle an obstacle....and to save his own bottom if you fall off the road! Minimum of 2. No children under 10. Crown King – Depart Rock Springs at 9AM and return by 5PM. Crown King is a "living" ghost town located at an elevation of 6,000 feet, high in the Bradshaw Mountains. It is a town steeped in history, offering great views and historical sites that your guests will enjoy during our 2 hour lunch stop that includes a meal voucher for $15. 95% of the road is maintained. On the way back we include a stop in Cleator for a beverage. Minimum of 3. Mine Tour – Depart New River at 9AM and return by 5PM. Go back in time to the late 1800’s when the Bradshaw Mountains had a higher population than Phoenix. Our first stop is at the Turquoise mine where we’ll spend 20 minutes picking up actual pieces of turquoise - great keep sakes and a guest favorite! Then we’re off to the Ghost Town of Tip Top where a thriving silver mine operated from 1875 on and off through 1937! On our way there, we will experience the views and virgin landscapes that will make this adventure a photographers dream! Upon our arrival, a box lunch will be served in the old brewery and then it’s off for an hour of exploration and pictures as we work our way through several buildings and other attractions. Leaving Tip Top on our return trip, we experience a whole new set of breathtaking views as we head for the Agua Fria fort, a historical monument with a fascinating story behind it. After visiting Gillette, another Ghost Town, we will return to the Road Runner at approximately 5PM. This is more of a technical drive with about 50% of the road maintained. Minimum of 3.
The Pretty Way – Leaving from Rock Springs OR New River, join us for 2 hours of leisurely driving into pristine BLM lands that makes this tour perfect for guests who want to stay relatively clean and keep the experience short. As is the case in all our tours, spectacular views will offer great photo opportunities. 100% of the road is maintained. Minimum of 3.
Cleator - This tour leaves from Rock Springs. During the first decade of the last century, the town of Cleator in the Bradshaw Mountains was a busy place where miners, ranchers and railroad workers came together to dance and drink. Guests will spend 4 hours driving through gorgeous land and stop in Cleator for a complimentary beverage before we head back to Rock Springs. 95% of the road is maintained. Minimum of 3.
